Just a few months ago, former Tinder employee Whitney Wolfe created some stark competition for her very popular former employer. Wolfe and others created the new app Bumble.
Bumble is similar to Tinder in pretty much every aspect. Like Tinder there is the same swipe functionality, the ability to connect with distance being compared, and profile pages that provide pictures, name, and age.
However, where Bumble separates itself from its competitor is in its ability to connect with others. Unlike Tinder, only girls are allowed to send the first message. This prevents the plethora of messages many girls typically get from attracted men and the usual harassment that comes with it.
This power play for women is something I firmly believe allows for a better, more attractive, and effective App as well as is the reason for Wolfe’s departure from Tinder and her creation of Bumble.
